FABULOUS ONION RINGS 
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. beer
3 very lg. onions
3 to 4 c. shortening

Combine flour and beer and blend with wire whisk. Cover bowl and let sit at room temperature no less than 3 hours.

Twenty minutes before batter is ready, preheat oven to 200 degrees. Line jelly roll pan with super-market paper bags. Melt shortening in 10 inch skillet 2 inches up sides.

Peel and slice onions 1/4 inch thick. Fry rings, turning once after dipping in batter. Transfer to paper lined pan and keep warm until serving time.
