GRANDMA CAREY'S SOFT SUGAR
COOKIES
 
2 eggs
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
6 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk

Cream sugar and butter together. Stir in eggs and vanilla. Set aside. Sift together flour, soda, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Chill overnight. Roll out and cut with round cookie cutter. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes. DO NOT OVER BAKE. Ice with confectioners sugar icing while warm. Cool and store in tight container. Makes 4 dozen large cookies.
