DRIED APPLES
The pale dried apple rings you may have bought in stores are bleached that whitish color. The dried apple rings you make will be brown but still taste just as good.

You need: Knife String & hooks or nails

Start with fresh, firm apples which are not mealy. Apples picked in the fall are the best. Peel, core and then slice them into rings about 1/4" thick. String them. Tie both ends of the string horizontally to a couple of nails or hooks. Spread the apple rings so none of them touch. They can be dried outdoors if they are kept out of the sun and away from insects. They can be dried indoors too if the place you hang them is reasonably well ventilated. Leave to dry for about 2 weeks. Then enjoy them as a snack.
