DRIED APPLE LAYER CAKE OR
JAPANESE FRUIT CAKE
 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter or Crisco
2 eggs
1-2 c. raisins
2 c. nuts
2 c. dried apples (bring to boil and sweeten)

Cook in layer cake pans. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes.

ICING:

1 c. regular sugar
2 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook sugar, butter and milk until thickened; add vanilla. Spread over layers and top.
