1 c. butter
2 c. dark brown sugar, packed
1 1/2 c. white sugar
2 tbsp. vanilla
3 eggs
6 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
4 c. chocolate chips
2 c. nuts (opt.)

Cream together butter, sugars and add vanilla and eggs. Beat 3 to 4 minutes. Mix together dry ingredients. Blend together butter mixture and dry ingredients. Mixture will be sticky and dry. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by small scoops on wax paper lined cookie sheets (do not re-use wax paper). Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 12 minutes. Do not over bake as cookies will get hard. Allow to cool 5 minutes before removing from wax paper.
