CANDIED YAMS 
3 lbs. sweet potatoes
1 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tbsp. lemon juice

Cook potatoes in their jackets in water to cover until tender. Drain, peel and slice. Arrange slices in a casserole dish, add a syrup made of the remaining ingredients.

Bake at 325°F for 2 1/2 hours.
