GUMDROP CAKE 
2 lbs. gumdrop candy
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1 tsp. cloves
1 1/2 c. nuts
4 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 lb. seedless raisins
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1 tsp. hot water

In large bowl, mix eggs, butter, sugar and applesauce. Add 2 cups flour. Mix well. In another large bowl, mix chopped nuts, gumdrops and raisins. Sift in 2 cups flour, salt and spices. Coat each piece well with flour mixture. Add soda water to first mixture. Add first mixture to second mixture and blend well. Bake in tube pan for 2 hours at 325 degrees. Note: May use orange slice candy.
