BANANA OATMEAL COOKIE 
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. shortening
1 egg beaten
1 c. mashed bananas
1 3/4 c. oatmeal, uncooked
1/2 c. nuts

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Sift into mixing bowl flour, sugar, soda, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon. Cut in shortening; add egg, bananas, rolled oats and nuts. Beat until thoroughly blended. Drop by teaspoonfuls about 1 1/2 inch apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 15 minutes or until edges are slightly brown. Remove from pan immediately and cool on rack. Makes 3 1/2 dozen.
