CHOCOLATE SAUCE 
2 c. sugar
2 squares chocolate (Bakers or Hershey)
3/4 c. water
Pinch of salt (opt.)
1 tsp. vanilla
Butter, size of a walnut

Melt chocolate and water over slow flame. Stir occasionally so as not to scorch. When chocolate is melted, add sugar. (If you want to use salt, you can.) Mix well, cook until soft ball stage.

Add vanilla and butter. After sugar and salt (if you used it) is mixed in it is better not to stir mixture too often. It seems to give a nicer texture.
