BEAN SOUP 
1 lb. great Northern beans, dry
1 ham bone or hocks
1 lg. onion, chopped
3 slices bacon, cut fine
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. oregano (optional)

Put all ingredients in crock pot. Add water until beans are covered with about 1 inch of water above beans. Beans should be completely submersed in the water. Cook on low about 10 hours or high 6 to 7 hours. You may have to add a little more water while beans are cooking. The beans may be soaked the night before and reduce cooking time to about 4 hours on low or 2 hours on high. Serve with warm corn bread.
