FRESH PEACH COBBLER 
2 c. fresh peeled/sliced peaches
1 c. sugar
1/4 lb. butter
3/4 c. flour
2 tbsp. baking powder
1 pinch salt
3/4 c. milk

Mix 1/4 cup sugar with prepared peaches; let stand 15 minutes. Put butter in baking dish; set in oven to melt. Mix batter, 3/4 cup sugar with milk, flour, baking powder and salt. (Not necessary to sift dry ingredients.) Pour batter over melted butter. Do not stir. Place sugared peaches on top. Bake in 350 degree oven for 1 hour or until batter creeps to top and forms crisp, browned crust (use 1 1/2 quart baking dish; deep). Serve warm, plain or with whipped cream.
