BEEF AND MACARONI CASSEROLE | |
1 lb. ground beef 1/2 tsp. garlic salt 1 med. onion, sliced 1/2 tsp. basil 6 oz. macaroni, elbow or lg. 3 tbsp. grated Romano 1 (1 lb. 12 oz.) can tomatoes 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste 1/2 tsp. oregano 1 1/2 tsp. chili powder Brown meat, stirring; drain off any fat. Combine everything else but cheese and macaroni. Bring to boil and simmer 1 hour, stirring frequently, until sauce is thick. Cook macaroni until soft, 15 minutes; drain. Combine beef mixture with macaroni. Put in casserole; top with cheese. Bake 20 minutes at 375 degrees or broil until bubbly and brown on top. |
