MY BASIC BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
3 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1 egg
2/3 c. milk
1 tbsp. honey

In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Combine the egg, milk and honey; stir into flour mixture just until combined. Turn onto a floured surface; knead 8 to 10 times. Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with a floured 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter. Place 1-inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet.

Bake at 425°F for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Yield: 10 biscuits.
