GINGERBREAD WITH LEMON SAUCE 
1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
2 tbsp. lemon juice (use fresh lemons)
Nutmeg
Salt
2 tbsp. butter
1 c. boiling water

Use your favorite gingerbread cake mix and prepare according to directions. While warm, top with warm lemon sauce.

Mix the sugar and cornstarch, add the boiling water and a pinch of salt and boil until thick and clear. Continue cooking in double boiler for 20 minutes. Remove from heat, beat in butter, lemon juice and nutmeg. If desired, grated lemon rind may be added.
