VERMONT MAPLE COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
2 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs thoroughly. Stir in sour cream and vanilla. Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting. Stir together flour, soda and salt; blend in. Chill dough if soft.

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Drop by teaspoonful on greased sheet. Bake 10 minutes. Spread with maple butter glaze.

GLAZE:

1/2 c. butter
2 c. confectioners' sugar
2 tsp. maple flavor
2 tbsp. hot water

Heat 1/2 cup butter until light brown. Blend in 2 cups confectioners' sugar and maple flavor. Stir in 2 to 4 teaspoons hot water until smooth. 4 dozen.
