GLORIFIED CABBAGE 
1 med. cabbage
2 med. onions, chopped
1 bell pepper, chopped
Bread crumbs (optional)
1/2 pt. cream
Salt and pepper to taste
Cooking oil
3 or 4 stalks celery
2 or 3 pods garlic
3 or 4 slices bread
1/2 lb. cheese, grated
1 block butter
Parsley

Parboil cabbage until tender. Remove from fire, drain, chop fine. Place shortening in saucepan. Wilt onions, celery, bell pepper. Add cabbage and smother. When cabbage is well smothered, add cheese and continue cooking. Add bread that has been toasted and soaked in milk. Add cream, butter, bread crumbs, keeping it desirably moist. Before removing from fire, add garlic and parsley. Place in casserole. Cover with bread crumbs mixed with grated cheese. Bake in oven at 350 degrees until thoroughly heated, about 1/2 hour.
