ENGLISH TOFFEE 
1/2 lb. butter
1 c. sugar, granulated
1 c. sliced almonds
1 c. crushed pecans
4 Hershey chocolate bars

Combine butter, almonds and sugar in heavy saucepan and bring to boil stirring all the time. Continue boiling until mixture smokes, 3 to 5 minutes, (color turns from whitish yellow to light brown).

Spread mixture immediately onto ungreased cookie sheet. Lay the chocolate bars onto top of mixture to melt. Spread the chocolate over and then sprinkle with chopped or lightly crushed pecans.
