SWEET AND SOUR RED CABBAGE 
1 medium red cabbage (1 1/2 to 2 lbs. approximately)
1 Tbsp. butter
1 large apple, green or red, cored and sliced
1/2 cup chopped cooked ham
1 medium white or purple onion
1 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 cup red wine
1 Tbsp. lemon juice

Saute chopped onion and chopped ham until onion glazes. Add lemon juice, wine, brown sugar and nutmeg. Add sliced cabbage and apple; stir well and cook on low heat in covered pot for about 40-45 minutes or until cabbage and apple slices are tender. May have to add a little more wine to keep cabbage from sticking.
