MAPLE VERMONT COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 c. sour cream
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Mix sour cream and vanilla. Add flour, soda, salt, nuts and blend. If dough is too soft to drop from spoon, chill. Drop on greased cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes at 375 degrees.

MAPLE FROSTING:

Heat 1/2 cup butter until brown.

Blend in: 2 tsp. maple extract

Stir in:

Blend until smooth. Frosting will be thin. Dip cookies.
