SWEET SOUR BEEF STEW | |
1 1/2 lb. stew meat 2 tbsp. oil 1/2 c. water 1 tsp. salt 8 oz. can tomato sauce 1/4 c. brown sugar 1/4 c. vinegar 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 c. sliced carrots 1 c. sliced onions 1/4 c. water 4 tsp. cornstarch Brown meat in hot oil. Add remaining ingredients except cornstarch, 1/4 cup water and vegetables. Cover. Cook until meat is tender, about 2 hours. Add vegetables last 1/2 hour. Combine cornstarch and 1/4 cup cold water. Use this to thicken sauce after meat is tender. Serve over noodles or rice. |
