AMARETTO COOKIES 
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. sweet butter, softened
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. almond extract
2 tbsp. amaretto
Colored sugars (optional)
Frosting (optional)

Combine all ingredients, except optional ingredients. Beat at low speed, scraping side often, until well mixed. Cover and chill 2 to 3 hours. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Roll out 1/2 of the dough on floured surface, to 1/4-inch thick. Cut with 3-inch cookie cutter. Sprinkle on sugar and bake 6 to 10 minutes, until edges are lightly browned. Cool and decorate. Makes 3 dozen.
