LEMON BREAD 
3 tbsp. butter
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
3 tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. lemon rind
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
Cherries (if desired)
1/2 c. walnuts
1 loaf pan, lightly greased

Cream butter and shortening. Add sugar, well beaten eggs and lemon rind. Add flour, milk, baking powder and salt. Fold in nuts and cherries. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.
