BUTTERNUT CAKE 
1 c. Crisco
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 1/2 c. plain flour
1/2 c. self-rising flour
1 c. milk
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. butter flavoring
1 tbsp. nut flavoring

Cream Crisco and sugar; add eggs one at a time. Alternate remaining ingredients. Bake in two 9-inch cake pans at 350 degrees until done. After layers have cooled, mix together frosting ingredients and frost layers.

FROSTING:

1 stick butter
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 box powdered sugar
1 c. nuts
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. butter flavoring
1 tbsp. nut flavoring

Use only 1/2 stick butter for a thicker frosting. It also makes a pretty cake to sprinkle the nuts on top of the layers instead of mixing in the frosting.
