MONKEY BREAD
1 pkg. yeast
1 c. warm water
1/3 c. melted butter or shortening
1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
3 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 egg
1 stick melted butter (use to dip dough in)

Dissolve yeast in warm water; add sugar, salt, egg, 1/3 cup shortening or butter and half the flour. Beat well, then gradually work in the remaining flour.

Pour out onto a floured surface and knead for 10 minutes. Roll dough to 1/4-inch-thick and cut into about 2x2-inch pieces (use a pizza cutter to cut dough - it is very quick).

Dip pieces of dough in the 1 stick melted butter and drop into Bundt pan any old way. Let rise until double. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Serve hot, no need to slice as it pulls apart nicely.
