APPLE DUMPLING 
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk

SYRUP:

1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. water
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
6-10 drops food color
3 tbsp. butter

SYRUP: Boil (until melted) all ingredients except butter. Then add after removed from heat.

DOUGH: Mix dough. Roll like pie. Cut in squares and shape around peeled apples, sprinkled with cinnamon, sugar and nutmeg. Pour syrup over dumplings, then bake at 350 degrees until golden brown.
