MAMMY'S GREEN TOMATO PICKLES 
Hot and/or mild peppers
Sm. green tomatoes
3 qts. water
1 qt. vinegar
1 c. canning salt

Fill jars with green tomatoes. For 1 quart jars, add 2 or 3 peppers; for pint jars, add 1 or 2 peppers. Bring water, vinegar and salt to rolling boil. Fill jars. Seal.

You can substitute cucumbers for the green tomatoes.
