PENNSYLVANIA SHOO FLY PIE | |
Line 2 pans with pastry. CRUMBS: 3 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. lard (or vegetable shortening) SYRUP: 1 c. hot water with 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. molasses Pour syrup in pastry lined pans. Put crumbs on top. Punch holes in crumbs with finger. Bake at 375 degrees about 30 minutes or until brown on top. A good breakfast cake. Pennsylvania Dutch use "Barrel Molasses" but can substitute other types of molasses. |
