MUSHROOM BARLEY SOUP 
2 c. mushrooms, sliced
1 lg. onion, sliced
2 tbsp. butter
8 c. water (or 4 and 4 milk)
1 c. pearl barley
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
2 bay leaves
1 c. milk

In pot, saute mushrooms and onion in butter. Add water. Bring to boil. Add barley, pepper, salt and bay leaves. Cover and cook over low heat for 1 hour. Add milk, cook 5 minutes more.
