PICANTE SAUCE 
16 c. tomatoes
4 c. onions
1 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. vinegar
1/3 c. pickling spice
2 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. alum
2 tsp. black pepper
1 1/2 tbsp. chili powder
Hot peppers - 1/2 c. for mild, 1 c. for med. 1 1/2 c. for hot

Cook uncovered for 1 1/2 hours. Can while hot.
