CHINESE CHEWS 
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 c. all-purpose flour

Cut fat into the flour and sugar as in pie crust and pat into bottom on 8 x 8 inch square pan. Bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees in an oven. 1 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 c. coconut 1/2 c. walnuts

Mix eggs, brown sugar, coconut, and walnuts over top of baked crust. Bake in oven for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Cut into squares while hot.

For variation add 1 small jar of chopped maraschino cherries and juice. Yield 24 squares.
