CHOCOLATE BUTTERMILK CAKE 
2 c. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. cocoa
1 c. boiling water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream sugar, shortening and eggs. Add buttermilk and vanilla. Stir in flour, soda and cocoa. Add last boiling water. Put in pan bake 30 minutes.
