STRAWBERRY SURPRISE ANGEL FOOD CAKE | |
1 angel food cake, cooled 1 sm. pkg. strawberry gelatin 1 c. boiling water 1 pkg. frozen strawberries 1 tub prepared whipped topping Red food coloring Place cake on serving plate. Slice a 1" layer from the top and carefully set it aside. Cut around the cake 1" from the bottom and inner and outer edge (as if digging a "trench"). Carefully remove cake from "trench" and shred into small pieces. Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Stir in frozen strawberries and add pieces of shredded cake. Chill until partially thickened. Pour thickened mixture into cake "trench". Replace top of cake. Tint whipped topping pale pink and frost cake with topping. Chill 3 hours before serving. |
