WHOOPIE PIE CAKE 
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. oil
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. warm water
1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder

FILLING:

1 c. milk
5 tbsp. flour
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt

FROSTING:

3 tbsp. shortening
3 sq. unsweetened chocolate
1/3 c. milk
2 c. confectioners' sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Cake: Put sugar, egg, oil, cocoa, vanilla, water, milk, flour, salt, soda and baking powder in bowl and beat. Bake in greased and floured 10 inch dish at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or less. Cool, cut in half horizontally and fill.

Filling: Cook milk and flour to make smooth paste, stirring constantly. Cool. Add shortening, sugar, salt and vanilla; beat until fluffy.

Frosting: Melt shortening and chocolate together over hot water. Blend in confectioners' sugar, salt, milk and vanilla. Stir until smooth. Place bowl in ice water and continue stirring until thick enough to spread. Delicious!
