FROSTED CHOCOLATE COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 egg
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Melt chocolate on low heat. Cream shortening, sugar and melted chocolate. Add egg, mix all well. Add salt and soda. Take 1 teaspoon vanilla and add to 1/2 cup milk. Add alternately with 1 1/2 cups sifted flour. Drop by teaspoons on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees about 12-15 minutes. When cool, frost cookies with following recipe:

FROSTING:

Melt on low heat 1/2 square unsweetened chocolate and 1/3 cup butter. Remove from heat, add 1 egg yolk. To this, add 1 cup sifted powdered sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Stir until all is mixed well. Add more powdered sugar if needed until it is thick enough to frost cookies.
