LYE SOAP | |
1 can lye 2 3/4 pt. cold water 5 1/2 lb. warm grease 1 c. ammonia & handful of Borax Mix lye in the cold water. The solution will get very hot. Let set until lukewarm. Pour mixture slowly into 5 1/2 pound warm grease and stir until mixture is about the consistency of honey. While stirring add ammonia and Borax. Then pour it into pans; when it is set but not too had, cut into squares and lift out of pans (do not use for baby diapers). |
