SCOTTISH OAT SCONES 
2/3 c. butter, melted or oil
1/3 c. milk
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. rolled oats
1/4 c. sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. currants or raisins, optional

Add butter, milk and egg to combined dry ingredients. Mix just until dry ingredients are moistened. Shape dough into ball and pat out on a lightly floured board to an 8 inch square or circle. Cut into 8 to 12 scones and bake on a greased sheet at 425 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
