FRIED WON-TONS (CHA YUN T'UN) | |
2 lbs. pork or beef, ground 1 med. onion, chopped 2 carrots, chopped 1 tbsp. sugar 1 egg 1 tsp. Accent 1 tsp. spice powder 1 lb. pkg. won-ton wrappers Mix ingredients together. To fill won-ton, place wrapper in front of you with one point facing you. Put 1 teaspoon filling on lower half of a won-ton, fold top half over, making a triangle. Moisten edges and press together, being sure you do not leave a pocket of air inside. Now cross the right and left points by bringing them together on the fold opposite the point toward you. Moisten and press together. Set on oiled wax paper until you are ready to cook. Fry 8 to 10 at a time until golden brown. Drain in serving dish lined with paper towel. Place in 250 degree in oven, to keep warm while you finish the batch. Fry in hot oil (375 degrees on a frying thermometer) until brown. Wrappers are available form Asian or Oriental food store. Chicken or shrimp may be substituted for meat. Water chestnuts, bean sprouts, celery can be added. |
