3 c. flour
1/2 c. salt
1 tsp. alum or cream of tartar
2 c. water
3 tbsp. shortening

Mix dry ingredients. Add boiling water and shortening, mixing well. Add food coloring to make several different colors of play dough.

Refrigerate until cool and store in plastic containers.
