CARAMEL BROWNIES 
1 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
5/8 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts, chopped
2 c. brown sugar

Sift flour, salt and baking powder. In large saucepan, melt shortening; add sugar, eggs and vanilla mixing well. Stir in dry ingredients and nuts. Spread in well greased and floured 10 x 15 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.
