LIME PICKLES 
7 lbs. cucumbers (sliced crosswise)
2 c. pickling lime
2 gallons water
8 c. distilled white vinegar (5%)
8 c. sugar
1 tbsp. salt
2 tsp. mixed pickling spices

Soak clean sliced cucumbers in water and lime mixture in enamel or crock for 12 hours or overnight. Wash 3 times in clean water and soak in fresh ice water for 3 hours.

Combine remaining ingredients and bring to a low boil. Stir until sugar dissolves. Add cucumbers and soak 5-6 hours or overnight. Boil pickles in soaking liquid 35 minutes. fill quart jars and pour syrup over, leaving 1/8-1/4 inch head space. Cap each jar. Process 5 minutes in boiling water. Label and store in cool dry place.
