SOUTHERN HOMEMADE BISCUITS 
2 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. buttermilk

Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt together. Cut in shortening, add milk, mix well. Turn out on floured board. Roll out and cut. Bake in a 450 degree oven until brown. Makes 16 to 20 biscuits.

I tried this recipe 2x, 1st time I cut it in 1/2 because I was only feeding 4 people, in doing so the biscuits turned out very thin but were somewhat soft, but not really a bad taste, 2nd time I made the full recipe: they look 100% better, they smell good, taste much better.
