ASPARAGUS SURPRISE CASSEROLE 
2 lbs. ground beef
1 lg. onion, chopped
1 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. salt
Pepper (to taste)
1 lb. fresh asparagus, cut in 2-inch pieces
1/2 lb. Cheddar cheese, grated
2 cans mushroom soup
2 to 3 lbs. fresh potatoes, mashed

Brown ground beef and onion together. Add garlic and onion powder, oregano, salt and pepper. Place in 9 x 13-inch casserole dish, layer of meat and layer of asparagus. Sprinkle 1/2 of grated cheese over asparagus. Add a layer of undiluted mushroom soup, then layer of mashed potatoes. Place rest of grated cheese on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Serves 6 to 8.
