AUNT SALLY'S COOKIES 
1 c. shortening (may use 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup shortening)
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. molasses
1/2 c. brewed black coffee
5 1/2 to 6 c. flour
1/2 tsp. ginger and nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 tbsp. baking soda

FROSTING:

1 c. sugar
1 c. water
Dash of salt
1 env. unflavored gelatin
2 c. powdered sugar

Mix all ingredients well. Chill. Roll 1/4 inch thick. Cut with spam can for correct shape. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Spread with frosting after cooling. Let frosting dry 2 hours before stirring.

FROSTING: Bring all but powdered sugar to full rolling boil after mixing together, simmer 10 minutes. Pour over powdered sugar. Beat 10 minutes.
