LIGHT AND TENDER BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tbsp. sugar
1 egg, unbeaten
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening (butter)
2/3 c. milk

Mix all together the dry ingredients. Add shortening and blend with pastry blender. Add milk and egg and mix. Put on floured board and cut with biscuit cutter or simply cut in squares. Bake 10-15 minutes in 425 degree oven.
