BAKED BREAD PUDDING 
1/2 lb. bread
2 oz. butter
3 oz. sugar
1 1/2 oz. currants or raisins
1 1/2 pts. milk
A small nutmeg
3 eggs
Fairy Butter

Cut the bread in thin slices and butter them. Put a layer in a baking dish that will hold 3 pints. Grate a little nutmeg and scatter over bread with a few currants. Make 3 of these layers.

In a medium bowl, beat the eggs, add sugar and milk and mix well. Pour mixture over the bread. Let stand 15 or 20 minutes. In a 350 degree oven bake for 30 minutes. Serve warm with Fairy Butter.

FAIRY BUTTER:

4 oz. butter
5 oz. fine sugar
Grated rind and juice of lemon

Cream butter and sugar, beating hard and fast until fluffy. Add the lemon juice and rind. Beat 3 minutes more.
