OLD-TIMEY KENTUCKY CHESS PIE | |
1 c. granulated sugar 3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar 1 tbsp. cornmeal 5 eggs 1/3 c. heavy cream 1 tbsp. cider vinegar 1/2 c. melted butter 1 unbaked 9 inch pie shell 1 tsp. vanilla Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine granulated and brown sugars with cornmeal in medium size bowl. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Stir in cream, then vinegar and vanilla. Drizzle in melted butter, beating all the while. Pour mixture into pie shell. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Lower oven temperature to 325 degrees. Bake 45 minutes or until filling is puffed, brown and set. Makes 8 servings. Delicious! |
