BASIC DINNER ROLLS | |
4 1/2 to 5 c. flour 1/3 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. salt 2 pkgs. yeast 1/4 c. butter 1 1/2 c. water (120 to 130 degrees) 1 egg, room temp. 1 c. shredded cheese (add with egg if desired) In large bowl, mix 1 1/2 cups flour, sugar, salt and yeast. Add butter. Gradually add tap water to dry mix and beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Add egg, cheese and 1/2 cup flour. Beat at high speed 2 minutes. Stir in additional flour to make a soft dough. Cover bowl tightly. Refrigerate 2 hours or up to days. Punch down dough. Divide in half. Then divide each half into 12 equal pieces. Form into smooth round balls. Place in 2 greased 9 inch pans. Cover and let rise in warm place until double (about 1 1/2 hours). Bake at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes. |
