SPAGHETTI WITH TOMATO SAUCE | |
SPAGHETTI SAUCE: 3 med. onions, chopped (about 1 1/2 c.) 2 cloves garlic, minced 2 (1 lb.) cans tomatoes 2 (15 oz.) cans tomato sauce 1/4 c. parsley flakes 2 tsp. basil leaves 2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. oregano leaves Grated Parmesan cheese (optional) 1 (16 oz.) pkg. spaghetti Combine all ingredients for sauce into a large saucepan. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat; simmer for approximately one hour. Then cook 16 oz. package of spaghetti and serve piping hot with the spaghetti sauce. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese (optional). Note: Spaghetti sauce can be prepared ahead of time and stored in jars in the freezer. Thaw jars of sauce at room temperature when ready to use. |
