ENGLISH TOFFEE | |
1 c. sugar 1/2 lb. butter 2 tbsp. water Dash of salt 1 c. chopped nuts 16 oz. pkg. chocolate chips Place chopped nuts on a pan, 10x8. Cook butter, sugar, water and salt over highest heat, stirring constantly until it turns caramel colored - takes 3-4 minutes. Little balls of caramel will roll together as you stir. Pour over nuts and place chips on top of candy. When melted, spread smooth and let cool. Put in refrigerator for an hour. Candy will chip into pieces. NOTE: Easy way to clean pan: Run hot tap water in pan and use dish cleaning brush to scrub out; saves a lot of time and labor. |
