DIPPED CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. all purpose flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. broken nuts (optional)

Cream shortening, sugars, egg and vanilla until light and creamy. Sift flour and dry ingredients into creamed mixture; blend well. Add chocolate and nuts. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from sheet immediately.

DIP: Place 1 (12 oz.) package of semi sweet chocolate chips in non-stick pan (or double boiler) on low heat until melted. Dip one end of cookie, place on wax paper on plate; refrigerate until chocolate is hard. Remove and place in air tight container.
